Midland Química is a specialty chemicals distributor focusing on Coatings & Inks, Industrial
Adhesives, Plastics, Flavor & Fragrances, Resins, and Civil Construction. They have long history
of success as they always thrived to exceed their customers expectations. Midland Química and
Península started working together to discover areas of common interest. The starting point
was to find a way to improve Midland’s offer of curing agents. Despite the fact that they had
reliable partners in this arena, the offering was not fully satisfying their customers’ needs.
Península started to search the industry to find a strategic match to fulfill this need. Several
prospects were identified in North America and Asia for that purpose. Conversations evolved
with few prospects but the best fit was SGS Polímeros, a leader in their field as they have a
broad array of renewable bio-based products for the specialties, additives, paints and coatings
segments.
Both companies are governed by high ethical standards and have strong financial balance
sheets. Península conducted a deep analysis of the strategic fit between the two companies
from technical capabilities, teams’ professionalism to the focus on quality. After the technical
and commercial evaluation of the products in the market place, the agreement was celebrated
in order the reinforce the already successful presence of both companies.
Now the Brazilian paints and coatings producers can count with a stronger offering for their
needs due to the recently formed partnership.
